Chevron Love

Happy Wednesday everybody!!!  I hope everyone is having a great day!  I can't believe Scott Antique Market is coming up in just a couple of weeks!!!  And now that I know what to expect, I'm even more excited!!!  I have some amazing things to offer at the March market, and I would love for you to come and check it out!!!

I'm sure by now that everyone has heard of chevron.  No, not the gas station. :). I'm talking about my latest pattern infatuation. Chevron has become one of the biggest trends in fashion and interior design. I love the movement that this pattern creates...

So what to do you think?  Is this trend a yea or nay?

Make it an amazing day!!!

Preparing for Scott Antique Market

Hey everybody!!!

I hope everyone is having a great day!  This week has gone by kinda fast, but I'm not complaining at all!!!

I had such a great time selling at Scott's this past weekend, but I gotta tell ya, it is hard work!

I have lots of friends (real and in my head) who have asked me about the experience, and who are interested in selling their wares there.  So I thought I would come up with a "To Do" lists of sorts for people who are ready to take the plunge at Scott's...

1.  Location, location, location.  Where you are located means everything.  Of course, try to find a space that is near the front, and at or near a corner.

2.  Be patient.  Thursday set up can be a little crazy with all the traffic.  Know that even if your set up time is 9 or 10 in the morning, there's a chance you may not be able to set up until later.

3.  Bring lots of wall hooks. You never know if you'll want hang a few "last minute" items.

4.  Bring a chair.  You won't want to stand ALL day, so be sure to bring a chair to take a load off...

5.  Wear comfy shoes.  You'll be doing a lot of walking, straightening, and moving all day.  Best to do all of this in great shoes.

6.  Don't get discouraged if it seems you're not selling.  You will.  Eventually, there will be some person that will love what you have, and will make the waiting worth it.  Which brings me to my next point...

7.  Don't undersell yourself.  I don't know about you, but with my "I want to please everybody.  Please don't be mad at me" personality, it's easy to want to take a ridiculously low price for something you know is worth much more, especially if you percieve you're not doing well.  Believe me, you'll hit yourself over the head if you undersell.  Trust.

8.  Use the bathroom.  I know this sounds crazy, but when things are getting crazy and hectic in your space, or when you're scared you'll miss the "big sale" it's easy to let "nature calls" go by the wayside.  Don't.  Your body with thank you.

All in all, great experience, and yes, I will be there next month!!!  Hope to see you there!!!

Have an amazing day everybody!!!

Another Legend Gone Too Soon...

As I'm sure everyone has heard, one of the world's most amazing voices has been taken away from us.  Whitney Houston, to some simply known as "the voice", has influence so many individuals.  Not only singers and vocalists, but millions of people that listened to this amazing lady have been touched by Whitney.  How many times did I sing "How Will I Know", thinking of my 6th grade crush?  How many times have I watched The Bodyguard, and thought "Wow, this woman is amazing..."? And how many times have I wondered in awe how someone can sing our nation's anthem so beautifully, so effortlessly...
Whitney, you will be missed by us all...

My First Time...

Get your minds out of the gutter. :)

I wanted to announce that this week will be my first time going to Scott's as a vendor...Yeah! I am so excited!!! I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off. If you read my blog, then you know how much I love Scott's(check out my last Scott's post here). I love meeting different people. I love hearing the stories of how a piece was acquired. And I do love those tuna sandwich plates...Delish! :)

If you'll be at Scott's this weekend, be sure to visit my booth!!!  I'll be in section I-5 Booth 5633...

What an amazing game last night!!!  My heart skipped a beat on that last "Hail Mary" pass...

So many great commercials, but this one has got to me my fav...

Super Bowl 2012!!!

Hey guys!!!  It's Super Bowl Weekend and we in the Brantley household are "super" excited!!!  I am so sorry I haven't posted in a few days...I've missed you!!!  My computer is on it's last leg...It's slow, it's undependable, it's "wishy-washy" (Sounds like a couple of bad boyfriends from the past). So if any of you lovely readers want to give me an early birthday gift... :)

I just wanted to share an healthy appetizer recipe that I'll be trying this weekend...And it's loaded with fiber!!!  No matter who you're cheering for this weekend, I'm sure this recipe will be a winner...

Southwestern Layered Bean Dip

Ingredients
  • 1 16-ounce can nonfat refried beans, preferably “spicy”
  • 1 15-ounce can black beans, rinsed
  • 4 scallions, sliced
  • 1/2 cup prepared salsa
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeƱo slices, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack, or Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup reduced-fat sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 1 medium avocado, chopped
  • 1/4 cup canned sliced black olives, (optional)
Preparation
  1. Combine refried beans, black beans, scallions, salsa, cumin, chili powder and jalapeƱos in a medium bowl. Transfer to a shallow 2-quart microwave-safe dish; sprinkle with cheese.
  2. Microwave on High until the cheese is melted and the beans are hot, 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Spread sour cream evenly over the hot bean mixture, then scatter with lettuce, tomato, avocado and olives (if using).
  4. Serve with baked tortilla chips, and you're good to go!!!
And I know I'm not the only one that just may be more excited about the commercials than the game...LOVE Super Bowl commercials!!!  Period.

This one?  Best...commercial....ever.

Hope you got a laugh out of it!!!

Oh...I've got exciting news to share next week...Can't wait!!!

Have an amazing weekend!!!
