DIY Art

Happy Tuesday morning!!!

I don't know about you, but all of this rain has me in kind of a sucky mood.  So glad for a little sunshine today!!!

So, I’m looking at all of these beautiful images in Veranda last night when I come across this piece of art that is literally a grey circle on white paper.  So you know what I started thinking to myself…”Art, really?  I could do that!”  Now, granted, I’m sure the person who bought it just fell and love with it and had to have it, and had no problem paying thousands of dollars for something that my nine-year-old son could have made.  But for those of us that don’t have that kind of money to spend on art (my hand raising right about….now!), why not create your own pieces that speak to you…true conversation pieces.  Can’t you imagine everyone coming into your home and saying, “Wow, where’d you get that great piece of art?” and you saying, proudly humbly, “I made it…”

And as long as it doesn’t look like anything this…

or something that looks like it came out of “The Ring” I think you should be OK…
Wait…I’m sure someone, somewhere paid for that thing.

Still not convinced?  Don’t forget framed letters from your husband, your kids’ artwork, or even your own black and white photography!  And check out stores like Hobby Lobby and Michael’s…The possibilities are endless!!!

And if all else fails...

Enjoy the day!!!

My Word of theYear

Hey Guys,

I hope everyone had a fabulous MLK weekend, and took time to reflect on the life of a man who gave his life for the rights of others...

In the blogger world, there is "Word of the Year" buzz, that started with one of my favorite bloggers, Layla at The Lettered Cottage.

Your Word of the Year should be a word that has the potential to inspire you and create intention in your life, all year long.  So without further ado, my Word of the Year is:

FEARLESS

All throughout my life, I have always been "safe."  Safe with my clothes and hair.  Safe in my attitude towards life.  I never wanted to ruffle the feathers too much, never wanted to say too much,  always went along with what everyone else wanted to do, without a real opionion of my own.  But as I have entered my 30's, I am realizing more and more who I am as a person, and for that, I am grateful.  And I've heard it only gets better the older you get!

Not only do I owe a fearless attitude to myself, but to my daughter.  I want to show her what it's like to live without fear.  To follow your dreams despite what people say, your current situation, or even how you feel.

This year, I want to be fearless as a wife, and love harder than I ever have before.

Fearless as a mother, and show my children what they mean to me EVERY day.

Fearless as a daughter and sister.  To make it a point to connect on a more intimate level with my family.

Fearless in the betterment of myself, my health, my business goals and desires.

Fearless in my faith.

This year, I will be...fearless.

What is your Word of the Year?

Enjoy the day!!!

Healthy Eats

Hey sweeties!!!

Just wanted to post a quick pic of my healthy meal I made last night!!!

Can I just say how awesome you feel after you eat healthy?  Sure a thick burger and pizza taste good at the time, but I feel like I'm finally learning (at 33) how to eat to live, not live to eat.

I don't even know what to call this, so I'll just say shrimp and veggies. :)

It was delish, if I may say so myself!!!

Just saute some zucchini and squash in olive oil.  Add a little salt and pepper.  Set aside.  In another pan, heat some olive oil and add some shrimp (I added some lemon pepper to mine).   Heat some canned diced tomatoes (no salt added) in a saucepan.

To plate, add zucchini and squash, shrimp, top with tomatoes, and if you're feeling really frisky, a little avocado on top!!!

Look at me, writing recipes.  I'm shocked.  Nothing complicated, but very tasty!

Enjoy the day!!!

POC

Omg...I am sooooo obsessed with Brad Goreski's new show, it's not even funny.  Seriously.  "It's a Brad, Brad World" is funny, its' sexy, it's adventurous.  It's awesome.

So I'm watching the DVR'd episode last night (because lately I can't seem to stay up past 9), and I hear POC, which Brad explains as "pop of color."  Genius.  Even the way he phrases things makes me smile. :)

How amazing are POC's?!?

What's your favorite color for a POC???

Enjoy your Tuesday!
